Return

Kenya 2025

After a four-week blog break, it's finally starting again! I’m excited for you to continue accompanying me on this journey because a lot is currently changing, and big transformations are on the horizon.

After eleven weeks in Europe, I decided that it was time to return home—to Kenya. As you know, the plan was originally to go to Austria, but we weren’t able to make it happen. However, throughout this time, I felt an increasing desire to build my life in Kenya and see trips to Austria as vacations. Our goal this year is to apply for the visa again and then travel to Europe together. That’s how we will continue to handle it in the future—after all, there are many important people there who make the long journey worth it every time.

Last Friday, I finally arrived back in Kenya. My entry was smoother than ever before. I spent four hours at Nairobi Airport, enjoying a passion fruit juice. Then, I boarded the final flight to Kisumu. It was a bumpy ride, and when we flew directly over my house, I thought to myself: I made it!

After collecting all my luggage, I left the airport building and was welcomed by my partner. We drove home, where our cat was already waiting for me. That afternoon, we went straight to Nam Lolwe at my request and tried out a new restaurant.

Kisumu has changed noticeably over the past eleven weeks and is slowly developing into a tourist hotspot for local visitors.

What I heard that day made me feel grateful once again. My partner told me that some flights before mine couldn’t land in Kisumu and had to turn back due to the weather. I could absolutely understand that—the landing was anything but smooth. That made me even more thankful that my flight went ahead and that, after 26 hours of travel, I arrived safely and in good health.

After more than 40 hours without sleep—and anyone who knows me knows that this is absolutely unusual for me—I finally fell into bed, exhausted.

Now I’m fully settled in again, and we’re currently preparing for a big change. More on that later—or perhaps some of you have already heard. 😉
